Afterlight
UX / Figma / Immersive Experience
A conceptual digital experience that reimagines how people discover a city after dark, replacing traditional destination-first exploration with a personalized journey built around mood, pace, interests, and atmosphere, translating ideas into a cohesive UX/UI ecosystem spanning interactive discovery, route planning, immersive mapping, and responsive web experiences.

Creative Approach:
Inspired by the idea that cities take on an entirely different personality after dark, Afterlight explores the relationship between light, architecture, movement, sound, and atmosphere. The concept started with a simple question: what if people chose a night based on how they wanted to feel rather than where they wanted to go?
Reframe city discovery around experience rather than destination. Users define their mood, pace, interests, and available time, allowing Afterlight to translate personal preferences into a curated nighttime experience while keeping the journey flexible enough for spontaneous discovery.
Created an immersive digital experience that combines editorial storytelling, interactive mapping, personalized recommendations, and intuitive navigation. The design balances atmosphere with functionality, using motion, imagery, typography, and spatial transitions to make the act of planning a night feel as engaging as experiencing it.

Applications:
Developed Afterlight as a distinct digital brand built around the contrast between light and darkness, structure and spontaneity, and discovery and direction. The identity is intentionally minimal and sophisticated, allowing the city and its experiences to become the visual content while giving the platform a recognizable personality of its own.
Built a flexible UI system combining expressive typography, cinematic photography, simplified mapping, precise grids, subtle graphic details, and restrained motion. Components were designed in Figma to remain consistent across responsive layouts while allowing the interface to shift visually based on different moods, experiences, and user interactions.
Extended the system across the complete digital journey, including responsive web, mobile navigation, mood selection, personalized route building, interactive maps, location details, saved experiences, and the Night Archive, a dynamic recap that transforms each user's route, places, and moments into a visual record of their night.
